Plan for the present Ukraine war was pushed by US in 2014

My comments on this at the time here Here is the text of a memo, ostensibly from RAND Corporation, leaked in July, 2014, in the early months of the Maidan coup regime: MEMORANDUM On the advisable course of action in case the peace plan fails In case further negotiation with southeast Ukrainian insurgents should prove futile, the only practicable solution should be a swift crackdown on the separatists and terrorists, to be undertaken irrespective of public opinion or operation costs. Procrastination would dramatically reduce the operation’s chances of success. Possible political and material downsides of an operation should be greatly outweighed by the following probable gains: Activists of a pro-Russian political movement get decimated, pro-Russian voters get disorganized. A significant share of the region’s coal industries get destroyed in the fighting, or are otherwise designated for a quick shutdown, thus relieving Ukraine’s budget of the burdensome subsidy costs. Shutting down ...

NUREMBURG 2.0: Manufacturing War Fever

From the New York Times editorial page on July 15, 2018, the day before Trump met with Putin in Helsinki Trump, Treasonous Traitor The president fails to protect the country from an ongoing attack. July 15, 2018 By Charles M. Blow NYT Opinion Columnist Put aside whatever suspicions you may have about whether Donald Trump will be directly implicated in the Russia investigation. Trump is right now, before our eyes and those of the world, committing an unbelievable and unforgivable crime against this country. It is his failure to defend. The intelligence community long ago concluded that Russia attacked our election in 2016 with the express intention of damaging Hillary Clinton and assisting Trump. And it was not only the spreading of inflammatory fake news over social media. As a May report from the Republican-run Senate Intelligence Committee pointed out: “In 2016, cyber actors affiliated with the Russian Government conducted an unprecedented, coordinated cyber campaign against state el...

Trump, Election Theft, and the US Constitution

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump · 3d So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great “Founders” did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections! That was Trump's posted comment about the Constitution which set off the latest clacking among the media and the institutional political class this week. READ IT YOURSELF. Contrary to the claims from all quarters, he did not call for the termination of the Constitution. In fact, he didn't call for anything. He made a statement, in the context of his claim that the election was stolen and that the proof came out two years later, which...

Why is it wrong to question the 2020 election?

Presidential election challenges - a partial history The January 6, 2005 challenges to election fraud in the 2004 election resulted in the Joint Session adjourning, with the two houses of Congress retiring to their respective chambers, as provided for under US Constitution. This requires only one objection from each of the two houses (viz., a Senator and a member of the House).  Once they are in their own chamber, each house begins a session where a public trial of facts takes place in the form of a debate. This was the House debate on the challenge to Ohio’s electors. https://www.c-span.org/video/?185005-2/debate-ohio-electoral-vote-objection This is the process that had just begun on January 6, 2021, with Arizona having been challenged. When the two houses retired to their respective chambers, the Capitol was breached and the sessions were held in suspense for 11 ½ hours, during which time the event was positioned across the media as an insurrection instigated by Trump in an atte...

How Langley views Ukraine in its plans for Russia

I remember the days when official US policy - and, thus, media coverage - regarding US Soviet relations went from detente (so called) to military, political, social and PR warfare. The apparent catalyst was the Soviet "invasion" of Afghanistan. I put the word in quotes because this was a much more complex phenomenon that was completely not the ridiculous parody that US propaganda portrayed, but I do not want to argue that here - I have another point to make. See this map of the USSR from the time: https://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/map/soviet-union-map.htm Locate Afghanistan at the bottom. Note that it borders the Soviet Union on its south, adjoining three Soviet states - Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic (now Turkmenistan), Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic (Uzbekistan) and Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic (Kazakhstan). See this map of the Russian Federation today: https://www.google.com/maps/search/russian+federation%2Fukraine+map/@51.9559881,48.3860806,4.04z Locate Ukra...

Foreign Policy: A Win by Pro-Trump Reps in November May Nix Ukie $$$

Kyiv Is Hoping the Republican Party’s Better Angels Prevail in the U.S. Midterms A small but vocal minority of pro-Trump Republicans are openly questioning U.S. support for Ukraine . By Amy Mackinnon, a national security and intelligence reporter at Foreign Policy. OCTOBER 14, 2022, 1:39 PM Politics stops at the water’s edge, or it may have in 1947, when then-Sen. Arthur Vandenberg, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, first made the remark. But as partisan politics increasingly have bled into U.S. foreign policy in recent years, next month’s midterm elections have raised concerns about how the election could impact U.S. support for Ukraine as the war against Russia grinds into the winter. Republicans have been widely predicted to retake control of the House of Representatives, and the future of the Senate remains up in the air. Although there has been strong bipartisan support for Kyiv since the war began among mainstream Republicans, former U.S. President Donald Trump-ali...
