Fuzzy Thinking Again Undermines the Anti-War Movement

We Need To Get It Right This Time By Don DeBar I just read "Green Party: The US must honor Libyan rebels’ call for no military attacks" at the Green Party Watch blog at http://www.greenpartywatch.org/2011/03/22/green-party-the-us-must-honor-libyan-rebels-call-for-no-military-attacks/comment-page-1/#comment-14775 and am compelled to take serious issue with its basic assumptions as stated therein. Although I consider myself a Green, support the party's platform and stated values and, more immediately, support the conclusion of this piece - that the US has no business invading or bombing Libya - the article's parroting of the official line that "Gadaffi is a killer and has been bombing his own people" is way off-base, factually speaking. Almost two weeks ago, the Russian government issued an official statement to the effect that they have been conducting satellite surveillance of Libyan airspace since the beginning of the "rebellion" over a month ...

Radio segment on Libya and more...

Today (Saturday, March 26) I did a 25+ minute segment on radio station WUSB on current events. WUSB is Stony Brook's public radio station, and it streams at http://wusb.fm The program is called Saturday's A Party! with Lister Lowell (who also hosts Burn Baby Burn on WBAI). You can hear my segment by clicking on the icon here.

I talked about Libya on a local TV program...

Last week I was asked by Bob Dene, host of the local cable TV program Videopoem , to guest host a couple of shows for him. So I did two programs - the first, airing this week, is about Libya, with a lot of information that not even the so-called progressive media is reporting. The second, airing late this coming week, will deal with the reactor disasters facing Japan -and, indeed, the whole planet - as well as a couple of local (to Westchester County) issues. The Libya program is also on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1Oj790NSiY and worth the 28 minutes it runs to take it in. The cute part is that the programs were recorded in Chappaqua, NY - home of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton - and will be airing there numerous times over the next weeks. The Libya program deals in depth with the role of both in the illegal (under the US Constitution) attacks on Libya without Congressional approval. I can only hope that one or both of the Clintons ...
Betrayal at 1600: 1st Black US President Invades Africa Over the objection of the African Union, US attacks Libya By Don DeBar NEW YORK - In a move reminiscent of Senator Mike Mansfield's observation that "Only a Nixon could go to China," President Barack Obama has begun a US military invasion of Africa. For those unaware, Libya is in Africa. Ignoring the call of the African Union - the regional organization having jurisdiction which counts every African nation save Morocco among its members - and channeling the political ghost of George W. Bush on the eighth anniversary of the "Shock and Awe" attack on Iraq, "America's First Black President" ordered the launch of some 110 Tomahawk missiles on Libya Saturday, killing an unknown number of Africans for oil. According to various media sources, Libyan authorities reported that 48 people were killed and more than 150 injured, most of them civilians, and that the missiles hit civilian targets, ...
